ءَامَنَ ٱلرَّسُولُ بِمَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مِن رَّبِّهِۦ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ ۚ كُلٌّ ءَامَنَ بِٱللَّهِ وَمَلَـٰٓئِكَتِهِۦ وَكُتُبِهِۦ وَرُسُلِهِۦ لَا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍۢ مِّن رُّسُلِهِۦ ۚ وَقَالُوا۟ سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا ۖ غُفْرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَإِلَيْكَ ٱلْمَصِيرُ ٢٨٥

لَا يُكَلِّفُ ٱللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا ۚ لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا مَا ٱكْتَسَبَتْ ۗ رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَآ إِن نَّسِينَآ أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا ۚ رَبَّنَا وَلَا تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَآ إِصْرًۭا كَمَا حَمَلْتَهُۥ عَلَى ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِنَا ۚ رَبَّنَا وَلَا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِۦ ۖ وَٱعْفُ عَنَّا وَٱغْفِرْ لَنَا وَٱرْحَمْنَآ ۚ أَنتَ مَوْلَىٰنَا فَٱنصُرْنَا عَلَى ٱلْقَوْمِ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ ٢٨٦

  1. Aamanar-Rasoolu bimaaa unzila ilaihi mir-Rabbihee walmu’minoon; kullun aamana billaahi wa Malaaa’ikathihee wa Kutubhihee wa Rusulihee laa nufarriqu baina ahadim-mir-Rusulih wa qaaloo sami’naa wa ata’naa ghufraanaka Rabbanaa wa ilaikal-maseer.

Laa yukalliful-laahu nafsan illaa wus’ahaa; lahaa maa kasabat wa ‘alaihaa maktasabat; Rabbanaa laa tu’aakhiznaaa in naseenaaa aw akhtaanaa; Rabbanaa wa laa tahmil-‘alainaaa isran kamaa hamaltahoo ‘alal-lazeena min qablinaa; Rabbanaa wa laa tuhammilnaa maa laa taaqata lanaa bih; wa’fu ‘annaa waghfir lanaa warhamnaa; Anta mawlaanaa fansurnaa ‘alal qawmil kaafireen.

285. The Messenger [Muhammad (Peace be upon him)] believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, and [so do] the believers. Each one believes in Allah, His Angels, His Books, and His Messengers. They say: “We make no distinction between one another of His Messengers” – and they say: “We hear, and we obey. [We seek] Your Forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return [of all].

286. Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity. It will have [the consequence of] what [good] it has gained, and it will bear [the consequence of] what [evil] it has earned. “Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred. Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear. And pardon us; and forgive us; and have mercy upon us. You are our protector, so give us victory over the disbelieving people.

16. رَبَّنَا وَلَا تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَا إِصْرًا كَمَا حَمَلْتَهُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِنَا (Rabbana Wa La Tahmil ‘Alayna Isran Kama Hamaltahu ‘Ala Al-Ladhina Min Qablina):

This part means “Our Lord, and lay not upon us a burden like that which You laid upon those before us.” It requests that God not burden believers as He did with people in the past.

17. رَبَّنَا وَلَا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ (Rabbana Wa La Tuhammilna Ma La Taqata Lana Bihi):

This part means “Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear.” It emphasizes that believers recognize their limitations and seek relief from unbearable hardships.

18. وَاعْفُ عَنَّا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا (Wa A’fu ‘Anna Wa Ighfir Lana Wa Arhamna):

Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah at night, they will be sufficient for him.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)

عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ الْفُقَيْهِ قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: “مَنْ قَرَأَ آخِرَ آيَتَيْ سُورَةِ البَقَرَةِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ كَافَتَهُ”. قَالَ: وَقُلْتُ لِاَبِي حُرَيْرَةَ: وَكَيْفَ كَفَاهُ؟ قَالَ: “تَكْفِيهِ مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ”. (صحيح البخاري)

Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, “Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah at night, they will be sufficient for him.” I said to Abu Huraira, “How are they sufficient?” He replied, “They are sufficient in every way.” (Sahih al-Bukhari)

عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُغَفَّلٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ الشَّافِعِيَّ يَقُولُ: لَا تُؤْمِنُوا أَحَدًا يُقِيمُ فِي بَيْتِهِ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ سُورَةَ الْبَقَرَةِ ثُمَّ يَقْرَأُ آخِرَ آيَتَيْهَا فِيهِمَا غُلْبَةٌ. (مسند الإمام أحمد)

Abdullah bin Mughaffal reported: I heard Al-Shafi’i saying, “Do not think that anyone who recites Surah Al-Baqarah in his house, especially the last two verses, will be dominated by Shaytan.” (Musnad Ahmad)
